Off-hours blocks your work apps with Screen Time in the evening, at weekends, on vacation, and on public holidays, and opens them again when you are on call or have a meeting outside work hours.
Getting started
- Tap Allow Screen Time access and confirm with your passcode or Face ID.
- Under Work apps, pick the apps, categories, and websites to block, such as Slack, Teams, or Outlook.
- Set your Work hours for each weekday. Outside them, and on days that aren’t workdays, the selected apps are blocked.
- Optionally add On call shifts and Days off, or select a holiday and a work calendar under Calendars.
Which rule wins?
A manual override beats everything. Otherwise, work apps are available while you are on call, blocked all day on days off and holidays, available during work-calendar meetings outside work hours (if enabled), and otherwise follow your weekly work hours. The main screen always shows the current state, the reason, and when it changes next.
Calendars
Every event in the holiday calendar counts as a day off. In the work calendar, events whose title contains an on-call keyword (such as “on call” or “Pikett”) become on-call shifts, and events with a day-off keyword (such as “vacation” or “OOO”) become days off. Both keyword lists can be edited. Calendars are read on the device and refreshed when you open the app and once a day.
Troubleshooting
- Apps are not blocked: check that Screen Time access is allowed (Settings › Screen Time) and that the apps are selected under Work apps.
- Blocking did not switch at the expected time: open Off-hours once; it re-applies the current state and schedules the next changes.
- Calendar entries are missing: allow calendar access in Settings › Privacy & Security › Calendars and check the selected calendars and keywords.
- Need a work app right now: use Allow work apps for 1 hour on the main screen.
Privacy
